Reka Kiraly really, really annoys me. It annoys me that her gorgeous illustrations made up simply with colourful polygons and uncomplicated mark-making possess more energy and character than I could ever hope to muster with my own boring literal style. There are just too many of these talented artists about. I give up!

Reka Kiraly is an illustrator, graphic designer and children’s book author based in Helsinki, Finland. She is fascinated by modularity, curious collections and the strange light conditions of the Nordic countries taken with humour.
She has been working on projects of various scales from commercial to non-profit developing design concepts for print, exhibitions and events. Her focus is on children’s culture.
Reka is the founding member of Etana Editions together with Jenni Erkintalo. Etana Editions is the curios mix of an independent picture book publisher and a graphic design studio.
